Archival Vellum Print - Simpling (Botanical) No. 4
Simpling (Botanical) No. 4, 2015, archival print, 17 × 11 inches (image size 16 ¼ x 8 ¼ ). Signed, titled and dated en verso.
The Simpling Series is reminiscent of the Rorschach inkblot test, and loosely based on the art of simpling, an early form of herbalism. This practice suggests that the shape and color of medicinal plants carry clues to their proper uses in healing.
The original was created with layers of hand-cut translucent vellum from Gmund, embroidered with thread, and hand-stitched with monofilament to Stonehenge paper.
Price includes shipping and handling in the U.S. International collectors please contact me for shipping quotes.
